So thats what it feels like to be punched in the face.....

Last week one of the children in my class accidentally punched me in the nose!! I have never been punched in the face so it was a bit of a shock. It was VERY sore, made a loud crack and instantly started to swell until I couldn't breathe, I was dizzy and throwing up! (disgusting detail I know...sorry) The school nurses made me go to the ER in case in was broken. That was a very different experience to going in Eire or the UK. When I arrived there the lady said "Are you Miss Mc Gowan? We have been expecting you" I was taken to a doctor immediately who examined me then straight in for x rays....it was so bizarre there were no screaming babies, no drunk people or school kids with broken arms. Then they said they thought it was fractured but couldn't really tell because of the swelling so they took me to see an ear nose and throat specialist. A nurse escorted me to the other department and said "I'm so sorry but you might have to wait 10 minutes" I was like...Oh ok! In the end it wasn't fractured thank god. Before i left school the nurses covered my face in a special bruising cream to stop black eyes because I was going to a boxing ball (will explain in another post) the next evening and didn't want to look like an eejit with 2 shiners! Needless to say I have been getting loads of abuse for getting hospitalised by a small child, when everyone found out I had lied to the doctor about true age of the child I got even more!
