These were our river guides
Jo and I were were obviously enthralled by the long safety talk at the start.
The guy in between Jo and I is Patrick our crazy guide. It was so funny that I went the whole way to Mindanao and met Filipino called Patrick!
And off we go...
The waters were really tame that day but it was still scary going down the rapids at the front of the boat.
There was a guides in theses funny inflatable kayaks to rescue the raft or you if there was trouble.
The whole way along the river there were families bathing in the river. This was a super poor part of the Philippines the river is one of the only water sources the people have. The kids were excited to see us and waved and shouted hi the whole time we were there.
On the calm water
The scenery was amazing the whole way
Jo holding on for dear life
Our boat crew
Mmmm lunch time! During our really boring safety talk on dry land the guy that was in charge was asking anyone if they had any food allergies, he turned to us (as we were the only two non-Asians in the room) and said "Oh do you guys even eat Filipino food?". It was SO embarrassing!
While we were rafting there was a TV presenter and a film crew from one of the Filipino TV stations filming the rafting experience. Being the only 2 westerners that were rafting that day we were of course interviewed!
We all went into a cave for a kodak moment.
Desperately trying to keep the camera dry.
It was so hot that when we were on the calm parts of the river we jumped in to cool off
As were were floating we went down some rapids and both Jo and I made the classic mistake of laughing and keeping our mouths open, therefore swallowing loads of skanky river water...uch
