Wild boys! Wild boys!

Oh yes... It's all about Duran Duran baby! Last night a big group of us from school headed to the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila for some Simon Le Bon action and it was gooooood. Simon and the lads are still cool...officially.

The gig was really good craic, most definitely not as trendy as the Subways gig that the London crew went to last night but still fun. They played a mix of old and new songs, with people screaming at the old ones. The venue was around two thirds full and some people looked like they had never heard of Duran Duran before as they stared blankly at the stage, pausing to clap politely in between songs. But that is only another example of how random the Philippines is.

As the traffic in Metro Manila is absolutely crazy we decided to get the train to the venue as there is an MRT station right beside it. Now...I have been in Manila for nearly 8 months and before last night I hadn't used any form of public transport because we get taxis everywhere. Me, Jo B, Rachel A and Bethan decided to brave it on the MRT. We got into a taxi and asked the driver to take us to the station, he laughed thinking we were joking because westerners hardly ever get transport like that. When we got there we paid our 12 pesos each (about 14 pence) and got on the train. The trains were busy but they still weren't as packed as the tube in London and it had AC!!! The commuters on the train and at the station were generally bemused at the sight of 4 western girls on the train. I thought the train was great although it doesn't really go all the way around the city which is rubbish!
