Singapore is SO nice! It is the cleanest place I have ever been to in my whole life. The underground train system (called the MRT) is absolutely spotless. You aren't allowed to eat or drink on any public transport and chewing gum is banned! You can't even buy it in Singapore. Its also super safe, I haven't felt like I was in a dodgy area once.
I was sent on a course to Kuala Lumpur by my school (sweet eh) and was put up in Traders hotel which is new and very swish. It is just opposite the amazing Petronas towers and it has an open air pool and bar on the roof that has an amazing view of the towers. I stayed there from Sunday until Wednesday then flew to Singapore.
Jo B was supposed to join me on Wednesday night. She arrived at the airport in Manila to be told they bumped her off the flight and didn't tell her. She hung around and was put on the waiting list but then they told her it would be 30,000 php to get on the flight. That's about 360 quid so obviously there was no chance of her getting on it. Which means I'm all alone in Singapore until Maggie arrives on Friday night. I was out sightseeing yesterday and walking by the river the waitresses kept shouting "table for one ma'am......" Bitches! ;-)
When I arrived on Wednesday morning it was pouring down. I think it was the tail end of the typhoon in the Philippines. As the weather was not the best for sightseeing I went window shopping instead. Window shopping inevitably does turns to buying, and I bought a wedding ring with six diamonds!! Bling bling! I thought Mike was gonna freak out because I had spent SO much wedding money on one thing but he was grand. The ring is beautiful and I have to stop myself from wearing it.
The shopping district in Singapore is centred around Orchard road. The shops are lovely but really expensive. There is a huge sale starting in two weeks which sucks because I would love to come back for that. Singapore has beautiful buildings and green parks, all the things that Manila lacks but it is definitely WAY more expensive than the Philippines. I went on the Singapore Flyer today which is basically exactly the same as the London Eye but bigger, it was fun. I also walked around Little India looking at the temples and mosques. Then I went to the Colonial district to see City Hall, the old Parliament buildings etc, the Asian Civilisations Museum; which covered the history of most of Asia but was notably lacking in and Filipino cultural artifacts....mmm is that because that because the Philippines isn't considered culturally relevant?
I made friends with an English guy at the hostel last night. We are meeting up later for a cocktail in one of the fancy hotels. The bar is on the seventieth floor and apparently has an amazing view. Tomorrow I hope to visit an international school here in Singapore that two girls on the course in KL work in. Then I'm gonna check out Chinatown and chill in a park til Maggie gets here. On Saturday I want to get a cable car over to Sentosa Island and hangout on the beach. On Saturday evening we are going to go to the night safari in Singapore zoo which is supposedly brilliant then head to Raffles hotel for a Singapore sling cocktail. That is where they were invented!

Can't believe there's no chewing gum allowed, that's insane!
